Seat Swaps
Seat Swaps
4th Gen Seats are beautiful. Personally I think they are prettier than 3rd Gen's and more comfortable too.
I've seen many 3rd Gen's with 4th Gen seats (Camaro's and TRANS-AM's)
Ok my question in here what if you had an electric seat in your 3rd Gen, but the 4th Gen you want to swap to is not electric? Will you lose that option? What about the exact opposite? And what if both were electric, is it easy to let the new seat works?
If anyone made this to his F-Body or have pics I would be thankful if he would post them.
Thanks.

Is it possible to simply swap the 4th gen seat on to the 3rd gen electric track (I have no personal experience with 4th gen seats, but my suggestion will work with 3rd gen seats)?

Pics you can get. Answers are another story, but I figure the two seats are so close, and the 4thgen tracks bolt right in to a 3rdgen, it's very possible you could mount the 4thgen seats to the 3rdgen tracks with little or no modification needed. Let ys know if you try it.

Thats right unbolt a total of (12) fasteners and do the same to install them. You will spend more time cleaning the carpet under the old seats then installing the 4th gen ones.

Yes it is possible to bolt the 4th gen manual seats up to the 3rd gen power seat tracks....I did exactly that, it was all a direct bolt up except for the seat controls....one of these days I will fabv up a bracket to mount it under the front of the seat, right now it just sits on the floor under the seat

I'll expand a little on my previous answer.
The seat tracks are held to the seats by 4 bolts on each (13mm I think, same as the ones that bolt the track to the floor. The manual passenger track is easy to get off. The power drivers track is a little trickier...there is a piece of trim that is attached to the track on each side, I think there are three or four phillips screws holding it on, look real close to find them. Even with those out of the way you may need to move the seat up or back undo two bolts, plug it back in and move it the other way and undo the other two. I did the job with a short socket, 3" extension, and an open end. The seat control is held to the seat trim by 2 screws, and I believe that trim piece is also held on by two screws, youll need to remove the trim then remove the switch from the trim. LIke I said the seat tracks bolt directly to the 4th gen seats with no clearance or bolt spacing issues, just remember you may have to power the seat up so you can move it to get at the bolts. My seats fit perfect and work great....just gotta fab up a mount for the switch is all.

I'm just wondering if they attach to the seat and look OEM?
Or if I should just stick with looking for 4th Gen seats that are already power.
Thanks!

Re: Seat Swaps
I have seats out of a Crossfire SRT-6 and I welded tabs on them to bolt them up. their are both electric and heated (not hooked up) and I had to run wires under the carpet to get the passenger seat to work
