1 Problem + 1 Problem = 2 Problems

I have 2 basic problems. Just curious how you guys solve these things...

1. My third light seems to be getting too hot and burning the plastic on the bulb. I put a new light bulb in, when I hit the brake for the first time (w/ the new bulb) it works, then never works again, so I checked the bulb. The plastic is melted meaning that it's getting too hot in the third light. This isn't the first time I've replaced this bulb due to the same problem. I've noticed that alot of thirdgens don't have working third lights. Is this a common problem w/ thirdgens? Is it fixable w/o rewiring everything?

2. My door seems to be making a funny noise when I open and close it. It's more of a squeeking noise. I checked the door by lifting it up and down, there seems to be no play in the hinge. I realize that these doors are long and heavy, but I'm wondering if it just needs some oil?

Well thats it.

Wow!

I didn't know that no one can solve these problems. Hmm. Maybe it wasn't a catchy enough Thread Title name.

You should put some oil or WD-40 on those hinges.

I've had the same trouble with the 3rd light in mine also. I'm just going to replace the whole light assembly and put a lower amp fuse in the line, maybe that will help.

UPDATE

I WD-40'd the door hinge, it worked like a charm, but we'll see how long it'll last.

i checked the fuse today, not the problem. the problem lies in the light assembly. i'll prob have to replace the whole thing. the funny thing is that every 3rd gen firebird's third light i see does NOT work...hmm

whats wrong with that picture?

BTW anyone know where i can get a fuse box diagram online?

My third light doesn't work either, but it's because of the two little prongs on the hatch. As it closes these prongs touch some metal on the body of the car and one of the prongs broke off of mine. I think thats how it works anyway.
