I have seen people putting lights in the ducts of a 4th Gen Ram Air Hood. Also, people on this board...have put lights in their vents, in the interior. My question is what kind of lights are these (LED's?). I have a functional Twin Turbo Hood and I would like to put lights in the ducts. I was thinking that hood lights could work, but is there something better? Thanks!

 

i did this a while back, i went to radio shack and grabed a bunch of their bright red led's and jsut got some extra wire, siddered it to the lights, then spliced them to te orignal wireing in the interior, then for the engine bay i run it off the head lights. pretty simple once you get the wireing figured out

 

Go to ebay and get look up "hyper led" or "hyperled" The common color for these are blue, red, and orange. These can be mounted anywhere. I have bought a couple of them and they are very nice and bright. The only thing is that you will have to run a wire on the hood to the battery. I personally would suggest running a in line fuse- dosen't have to be vary big. I just ran the wires then tapped into the postive and negitive wires behind the cig. lighter. This way these are on a fuse. Then run the wires from the cig. lighter to the switch. I mounted my swich for mine on where it stock fog light switch is cause I don't have them. You could also mount the switch in the center console, ashtry, or anywhere else. Jeg's sells switchs that are black kinda like the stock ones- My suggestion would be get one of the switches with a light built in so you know when that are on. You can get them so they light up with a red or blue light to match your LED's. To mount the leds you can use any thing, personally I would use a small dab of hot glue. Now LED's in the hood are becoming more popular I would get the strobe light kit. These are also on eBay. I don't know how bright they get? But I think those would look bad a**. yeah light emitting diodes are pretty cool to mess with!! i used them to light up one of my radio controlled car plastic body...

i used a couple of 9 volts and a switch with som blue and red leds... that last real long if you stay in the range of voltage / current there suppose to be in..
