tire clearance

I have a 88' Firebird Formula and I was wondering if a 275/45-17 size tire would clear the wheel well without any major modifications any info would be much appreciated on this subject

Well I'll get to you first before some jackass yelling about the "search" feature does.

275/40R17 would fit just perfectly underneath our wheelwells. You will need a rim with 5.5 inches of backspacing in front, and 4.5 in the rear.

Incidentally, if you've never used the search function, you should check it out!
