New headliner fit

I just installed a new plastic headliner and it fits like crap around the t-top openings. There are gaps in a number of places. As far as I can tell nothing holds the liner to the lip of the opening. It just rests there. I started in the rear with the seatbelt trim then mounted my overhead console. I have not installed the visors yet.
Does anyone else have this problem? how do you attach the headliner to the lip of the t-top openings? Am I missing something? Thanks
