Lift off hoods

I want to get a cowl lift off hood from summit/jegs.(harwood i guess)....anyway if i got pins for it(2 front, 2 rear)...will it still want to fly off? Is it unsafe to have a lift off for street use?

if you use 4 points its perfectly safe if installed correctly think about it a normal hood only uses 3 points to attack itself?

In my opinion lift off hoods are a PITA. takes two people eveytime you check oil...etc. Doesnt Harwood make a Fiberglass hood with light tension springs? That would be the way to go.

I've got the Harwood lift off hood on my Camaro. I started with 4 pins in the corners and that just wasn't enough. It still wanted to lift up in the middle at interstate speeds. I added two more front and center. The two that I added are locking pins so no one can steal my hood which is something to think about. It is light enough that I can take it off by myself which is great for working on the motor. Also, you don't have to take it all the way off to check the oil and things like that. You do, however, have to take all the clips off of the pins and pivit it up just as if it had hinges. I keep a yard stick with me to prop it up.

They do make a hood that uses the stock springs and latches. The lift off is much lighter and half the money but more of a PITA.

Here is a pic of it to show where the pins are located.
