well...

I removed the entire headliner from the car( a decent chore). A good bit of it was sagging. I removed the material entirely. What was underneath was the deteriorated foam rubber. I took a shop vac and sucked all the loose stuff off, using a brush attachment. Then took some dark gray primer and painted it! Mind you this was a dark gray interior to begin with. Most people will never know it was done if you don't like it the only thing your out is the cost of the paint.

go down to the local bone yard and see if you can score one there, you can usually get them pretty cheap and they will be in perfect condition

i do headliners all the time. yes it is possible to repair. i use thick sandpaper that the air poewerd strait line sanders use. it is strong, but still flexible. you need to prep the board by cleaning all the old foam and cloth off the board, and i do mean all of it. the glue wont stick as well to the old foam, and cause premature failure. a wire wheel on a drill works great, just dont stay in one spot to long. then the hard part is putting new headliner on the board. the directions say apply glue to both mating surfaces, but it is a bitch to keep the wrinkles out, and once it is down, it is down. i apply the glue to the boar heavilly, then start in the middle working the way out to the edges of the board, using your hands, but make sure they are clean. then pull up the outer edgen all the way around the board and apply glue to the cloth and more on the board, then on the back of the bord around the edges, then finish by smoothing out the edges and rolling the cloth over the edge and onto the back for a clean look, and be sure that you cut the cloth a litlle around the corners or major bends or it will wrinkle. let it sit for about 2 hours in a well ventilated room (or not if you want a buzz) then reinstall.

good luck
