Spoiler and Bumper Problems

Hey everyone..the paint on my bumper is chipping and bubbling, and is just a mess...i'm also having the same problem on my rear spoiler, there are bubbles, and in one there is a crack, water collects...etc...what should i do about this? would i be able to do this on my own, would it be cheaper than taking it to a paint shop? does the bumber and spoiler need replacement, if so, how much does it cost...how much should i pay for them both to get painted, what should i request the body shop to do when they paint it so its done right...would fiberglass be cheaper and last longer in the long run? sorry for all the questions, just wanna have everyone's 2 cents on this, for i know nothing cept that it looks butt ugly

From the picture it looks like the clear coat is comming off. This was a big problem 86to 89 GM cars. Years ago, if you were the original owner of the car, GM would repaint the car for you. There was not a recall on this, you had to go in and complain to a GM dealer and they would repaint it. When I bought my SS454 in 92, I mentioned that the paint on my 86 Camaro was starting to blister, the Dealership checked with GM, and I got a new paint job on the Camaro with a 5 yr warranty from GM.

That can be fixed easily. You won't be able to do it with rattle cans though, because the primer & clear coat will have to be mixed with a flex agent.

Just take it to a body shop and they should be able to repaint those parts for around $500 - $1000. Cost of material to repaint something like that, using the paint system (BASF R/M) that I use is around $200.

your rear bumper has been painted before, and it looks like they didn't use any flex agent. That is why it cracked and is peeling.
