T-Top questions
I know this has probably been answered before but i have a few questions
Ok my absolute dream car is an 84 z28 black with silver gfx and ttops.
I know i would probably drop a bigger engine in there 350 or a 400 my question on this one is will it hold up? i will plan on getting SFC's but will it be worth it..?
Another thing im afraid of with the ttops is one breaking ,people are asses sometimes and they feel the need to bust into your car , Has anyone ever had anyone break a ttop? how about dropping them or something. If i did break a top what years could i replace it with? Any chance that a ttop would break from extreme engine tourque?
And anyone have any close up pictures of lexan and glass ttops form the inside and the outside of the car...?
Thanks

The car will hold up, though you would need a new rear prolly. SFC's are definitly worth it. Read other posts on them.

The ttop will not break from extreme engine torque. As for breaking in, I highly doubt anyone has had someone break the ttop to get in. Generaly it would be easier for a would be thief to just smash in your window.
I just looked at your post count.. Why the heck are you asking these questions now with that many posts?

graywolf: welcome to the boards. You'll learn quickly that there is a LOT to learn here on thirdgen.org. I'm still constantly asking questions, and I think the t-top question was a good one, as it applies to me, as well. And my post count ain't small.
Thank you. I have already noticed the amount of things to learn.(first things first, eproms.) Hopefully, it will be really helpful with my project camaro.
Sorry if I came off as he should know this, just was kind of wary that maybe someone was posting something as a joke or something.

i got a hardtop car .. if i had a ttop car THEN you could call me a moron , but ive never had a car with ttops.
graywolf, what thirdgen do you have? If you're planning to upgrade and mod the car, get it up to stock if anything is particularly wrong with the engine or anything else. Typically, it's best to start with upgrading the body and suspension first, before trying to push out 400hp or so. I don't mean to come off as condescending or anything, it's just that I see many newcomers that want the fastest car on the block. And heck we ALL want the fastest car.
But some of the best advice I was given when I first started here was to stiffen the chassis and upgrade the suspension first. Have a look around the suspension board, you'll find lots more information.

88 5.7 Liter Iroc. I just fixed most of the problems with it. All the fluids, new distributor cap, new spark plugs with new accel wires, K&N air filters, new break system(still stock but the the old ones were locking), modified the maf sensor, new 255x55x r16 z rated tires, ect.
I am putting on some subframe connectors (already purchased and sitting at home) as soon as I get home(I am in a different state then that car currently). Already have a 2 1/2 inch custom dual output exhaust with high flow cat(had to replace the old exhaust which had a whole, no headers yet).
On the list for next is the computer eprom (by end of christmas, everything else by summer), a set of tpi runners, and that ram air II hood with the functional air box(I am a sucker for a ram air hood, and this car is a compromise since I could not afford to make my grand prix ram air).
The car has 95k miles on it, so I will not be doing a supercharger. I do not want to plan any further ahead then that list as when I graduate from college I am liable to sell it for a new gto.
The only real issue with the car- no headliner and some other interior issues. I am debating just leaving them be though because it is livable. The carpet is stained with someones old cigaretees. Missing a few bolts for the interior parts. One of the inside door handles is half broken. The seats are relatively good, though I am removing a back one. It is getting a new radio for christmas as well.
