Removing Dash Trim plate from '92 Camaro

How does the trim piece that holds the cig lighter, defrost buttons, and headlight switch come off the dash. I can get it all off except for the part around the headlight ****. So, does the **** just pull off(I pulled pretty hard and it didn't want to come) or is there something else you have to do?

yeah, you have to get in behind it... there is some little button you have to press that releases it, if you look in a repair manual it explains it pretty well.

I can't recall exactly cuz I'm many miles away from my own car, but I believe you need to drop the lower dash panel which will expose about four 7mm screws (2 on each side of the column). Gotta remove those and then the rest of that trim just snaps in place, so you'll have to pop it off. As for the headlight switch, you gotta get behind that panel and there is a little button that will release the pull switch. OR... if you're careful... if you pull on it and wiggle it just right, it'll come out... then re-insert it just enough to turn your lights back off... you'll see what I'm talking about once you get in there...

its been about 7 months sence i been behind the dash but i belive once you have the dash pad off you can reach down behind the headlight switch and right below the shaft that the healight **** is on there should be a little button, hold the button and give the switch a little tug, hope that works for ya, and if not then come back with the year of your car and i'll run down to the junk yard and figure it out there for you

I finally figured it out. I have a '92, so I am begining th think it is a little different under the dash. There was no way to get to the button from above. I ended up taking off the fog lamp switch and sticking a long screwdriver down and pushing the button. Still didn't fix my problem(rear defrost doesnt work) but at least I made some headway.
