4th gen console and power mirror switch question

I am looking to replace my 88 GTA's console with a console from a 95 Trans Am(also an automatic) My qustion is, where should I mount my power mirror switch? Also, where has everyone mounted their window switches? The ashtray? Pics would be most helpful here. Thanks in advance.

You won't be able to use the auto console with your gearshift. 4th gen's gearshift selectors are mounted about 1-1 1/2" to the rear of where the 3rd gens are. Get the console from a manual trannied 4th (preferably from a 97 or newer, as they have more cupholders). Cut out all the parts that hold the ashtray in, leaving only the lip in the back. Then take a piece of 1/8" plexiglass and gradually shape it until you can fit it into the old ashtray area. Then mark the center and cut out the square hole for the mirror switch. Using some plastic weld or epoxy, epoxy it together, clamp it and leave it until it's set. Install the switch and voila. I painted the underside of mine black before epoxying it. I think it looks better. You could paint it any color.

HTH GL!

Here’s mine:
