does any company make lexan side windows?

does any company make functional lexan side windows for 80's camaros. Custom or otherwise.
i ask beacuase i'm of the belief that lexanj doesn't shatter as easily as glass. lately i have had the problem of thieves smashing with the hopes of grabbing stereo stuff, and making out with nothing. about 4 times and counting including one popped for lock foul up and a resounding glass shatter.
tints in il ain't legal on side and cops in my area are bitc#'s.

or maybe someone makes a plastic nonshatter film simialr to the stuff layered in our windshields.

if anyone could help its appreciated.

Even if it were available for your car, it wouldn't make sense for your particular application. Let's say you had custom security glass made for your car, the kind that won't break apart on impact (bulletproof glass). The intent for this type of glass is to protect the occupants of the car, not to be damage-proof. If someone were trying to break the glass it would get damaged to some extent, and you would then want to replace it anyway. Why bother with the added expense if the thieves aren't getting squat from your car when they do break in? You would also run the risk of some punk getting frustrated because he can't break your window, so he vandalizes the rest of the car. I'd suggest leaving the doors unlocked if there's nothing in the car for them to steal.

That, or move out of Chicago!

BTW, that's my old hometown too.(south suburbs)

Lexan windows would actually make your car easier to break into. While lexan does not shatter like glass, it bends. And since our cars have no window support around the top edge, it would be really easy to grab the top of the window, pull it outwards, then reach your arm in and unlock the door. On top of that, they could still bust the hatch and get in. I would reccomend a good car alarm.

most of the thieves around here are rather young and dumb if you throw a brick or spark plug at it and it don't break they give up or will try bend method. in either case they haven't ever tried stealing the car so if they get in fine, nothin to take. i just hate haveing to sweep glass at 6am in the morning, go to the bank get money, go to glass shop get glass put in all before my 7-9-10 am classes.
i want to make it harder not impossible. No car is impossible to get into just some harder than others and thats what i want.
unless one of you guys wants to stand out side my car at night while i sleep. (yes i sleep very hard) and now have a 9mm incase glass wakes me up. if i hit them i will say i was sleep. never any witnesses in my hood anyway.

just venting i will aim for the legs. but back to my question anyone got info....?

lexan windows suck big time! roll it down, then up, and it will be trashed. even paper towel will scratch it!

I think the windows would roll up quicker, the motors has a hell of a time rollin up the glass. , also might be lighter, and less stressful on door shuts

Too bad you don't live closer to central Indiana! I'd love to catch some thieves defacing a thirdgen. I'd gladly do the job for you. p.s. I'd rather hide in some close bushes or somehwere dark with a jason mask on
