I just put an aftermarket fibgerglass hood on my car and know that I cant use the factory hood shocks but I can use the factory hood shocks from the year they put the factory fiberglass hood on correct? Does anyone know what year that was?

82 and 83.

 

i never knew there was a factory fiberglass hood. are the hood shocks weaker then normal? did all the 82' and 83' cars have fiberglass hoods?

 

I didn't realize my '83 had a 'glass hood untill i took it off to do the engine swap... i thought it was oddly light for that much sheet metal, lol

 

try a wreckers yard for a hood with struts that dont quite hold the hood up.

If the steel hood takes about 1 1/2 seconds to shut itself then i'd guess they would be about right for a 'glass hood.

They'd be mega cheap as well.

 

83 LG4 had them i know, i just sold one with stock glass hood, not in 84-up though


you can use whatever shocks you want, all same third gen

its hard ot tell if a hood is glass or steel until you magnet testit or unbolt it or look for glass strands underside of it
