Shifter **** Switch..HELP!!!

Hi guys...

I have tried searching and can't seem to find an answer...
I want to change my shifter **** on my '86 Iroc (round ball ****) to the one off
an '88 Iroc (square leather wrapped ****). Will this work? Can't figure out how
the square one comes off, I can't find a pin, clip or anything once the button is off,
just see the inside of the **** itself. Also, the square one has a "tab" on the button
that seems to hold it in place and there isn't a "slot" for the "tab" on the '86.
Hope this doesn't sound like a stupid, obvious question, but hey, I am desperate! *L*

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Ok... Well, never mind about the "slot" and "tab" question. I looked again
and they are on the inside of the ****, not the shifter rod, so that
isn't a problem.

Still don't know how to get the square **** off the so someone PLEASE help! THANKS!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

on the square **** there is a horseshoe looking clip on the front, towards the radio. Use a small screwdriver to pry it out, and lift the **** up. installation is the reverse of removal.

Big Jon...

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Took off the little clip and it slid right off!
I had been looking INSIDE the **** for the clip, not OUTSIDE the ****. *L*
Anyway THANKS again!!!! Although I am going to have to switch the whole shifter
since the square **** shifter rod has two slits the **** sits over and the round one
doesn't. *L* Story of my life, nothing is ever easy. But, the **** had to come off either way.
