Heater blower resistors

I am getting ready to work on my daughter's '92 RS, again. The heater blower has been making noise on the lower speeds. Last night she said it quit all together and the burned smell in the car was unbearable. I have a blower motor coming already, but the question is this; Is the smell coming from the motor or do we have low-blow resistors or relay burned up too? She is out of town with the RS, so I don't have it here to inspect yet. Also, where would I find those resistors/or relay? Thanks in advance!

the blower reistors are behind a little oval type that gets held in by 2 screws. When you take it off, its just 2 or 3 coils in a series.

You could apply +12 volts to the blower motor and see if it spins or smells burnt. If her motor doesn't work at all, on any speed, either the motor's burnt or there's a wire that's part of the climate controls that can get hot and burn. Something about using a plastic connector that heats up and causes more resistance and heats up more and causes more resistance and heats up more and ....

Vader's put messages up about it, do a search on the tech board for messages by him about blower motor ...

most likely it is the motor. i fot smelled real bad before it quit, it is usually the motor. when the resistors go bad, the motor will just quit on all speeds but high.

thanks
