non-3rd gen (1990 lumina euro)
well guys, with the cam parked for the winter im driving my lumina (1990 euro model) and ran into a problem with my door latches.
that being, the latch will not lock (almost as if you are holding the handle out while trying to close it.) the same goes for if you manually rotate the latch with your finger, just doesnt lock into position. so far this is intermitant, but getting worse.. anyone have any ideas before i brave the cold and snow to pull my door panel off?
thanks a mil

It may just need a good lubing..Try spraying in it really good with some penatraing oil, I mean soak it. Then try to work it open and closed..if that doesn't work then time to take off the panel..I to own a 90 Lumina Eurosport. Excellent ride! HTH

thats what i was afraid of.. didnt know if there was external linkage that makes it latch, or if its all one part with the latch.. guess i'll try hosing it down with some wd-40 and see what happens.. theese door panels look like a mother to remove..
kaz, you ever take yours off? any pointers?
ya know, like how camaros got the fake screws..

I have had mine off they aren't to bad...no fake screws or hidden ones anyway. It actually come off in two pieces kinda..a top and a bottom. Take your time, look carefully and you'll be just fine.

oh my lord.. that door panel was harder to get off than any 3rd gen i dealt with.. came off in one peice however.. and still cant even see the lock mechinisim..
[update]
well, i couldnt figure out what wasn't right, all looked good inside there, and figures, while i had the panel off, the lock would latch every time.. i just hosed the guts down real good with wd40 before putting it back together..
