T-top

I just bought this really nice 84 Camaro from the original owner. its in great condition only 28,600 original miles always garaged. The guy I bought it from said he has never had the t tops off since he bought it in 84.I want to take them off, but Im afraid that the weather stripping will be deformed from sitting for 19 years .Do you think there is any cause for concern?

hmmmmm, 19 years, and never had the t-tops out? Sounds like a long stretch to me. I'd say just take a look at what the weatherstriping looks like (the part you can see that is on the outer edges) If they look in good shape, surely the part that has been under cover for 19 years should be ok. I just still find it hard to believe that in 19 years, a person isn't gonna take the tops out every so often even if its just to clean up. Take them out. I don't think there would be any concern.

19 years without taking the t's off once I find that hard to believe, I mean come on why buy a ttop car and not take them off. But since its been garaged the weatherstripping should be fine since its not been weathered much. How does the weatherstripping look on the rest of the car?

I would have to agree with Thunder. It seems to be a stretch. I say go for it. As long as you dont see any dry rot, you should be okay. Think about other cars with t-tops. They are on most of the time. I take mine off about once a week, and only for a little while.

Seems you found a thirdgen with pretty low miles. If it is half as nice as it sounds, GOOD BUY!

Shouldn't be a problem man. If all the seals look good, let her rip. Let that interior breath. I love T-Tops I wouldn't have a TA any other way.
