4th Gen. dash question?
4th Gen. dash question?
Hello all,
I'm new to the site and acutally found itlooking for info on the 4th gen dash swap. I have an 84' camaro, 305, automatic. I've been reading the forums and was wondering if someone could tell me all of the parts i would need to complete this swap. The last one i read talked about transmissions and a dakota digital box, as far as i know my car has a stock eng. and trans. Anyways, thanks for any help you could give me. I just got this car and this will bethe first major thing ido to it.
thanks again,
Jared

heres the list:
complete dash.. what you see in a 4th gen is what you need.also need console for it to look right. when you find a dash, make sure you take the metal frame to it too, this will give the dash its strength.
heater control panel.. make sure you take the connecters AND the vacuum lines for the heater selector. I just unplugged the vacuum lines from the 4th gen car.there is a connector on it
headlight switch...........take the connector
cluster..... take the connector
dash cover. its fragile dont break it.
if the dash has any mounting brackets holding it to the 4th gen car then take them also, you can use them to fabricate new mounts to hold your dash in.
MAKE SURE YOU CUT THE PLUG CONNECTERS AS FAR AWAY FROM THE CONNECTOR AS POSSIBLE(on the 4th gen car) this will insure that you will have enough wire to reach the desired location. leave about 2-3" of wire on the 3rd gen connectors in case you decide to put the 3rd gen dash back in. Doubt you wil though after all the bending and stuff that has to be done)
Once you get the parts, drop me a line and I will give you some help if needed.
