speaker covers

has any one ever tryed cuting out the speaker holes in the rear sail pannels so that the speaker is exposed and put the speaker covers that came with the speakers on it so that the speakers are sticking out of the sail pannels with the speaker covers

i've yet to see that, but i think it would look pretty neat, with the right speakers (and perhaps grilles)

if you're thinking about it, do it! and keep us updated.

I don't think I would like it. I like the covered look so that when the sounds hit it's like a surprise. Plus i think it looks better. But check over on the car audio board for their opinion.

I've thought about it, but I'm not so sure about how well it would work IRL. I mean, you would have to make some pretty nice cuts, then have some sort of plastic trim to cover the edges. Then slap the grill on that, and I think it may look like a little much. But hey, I could be really really wrong, and I'm sure that there is someone somewhere who has had amazing results with this.

On a side note, my friend spent 5 minutes yesterday trying to find where the damn rear speakers were.

I almost did it, but I have a different covering system than everybody else. I have to glue a piece of carpet up with spray adhesive rather than use a screw and a coat hanger. I decided not to do it because if you ever leaned your head up against a speaker grille, it isn't comfortable. That's why I left the cover off.

I think it would have looked pretty good though.
