Installing Guage Pod
Installing Guage Pod
Anyone who's done this before. Can you give some tips on removing the little clips in the piller? I managed to take off the plastic trim piece and only broke one of the clips. The others look like they can be salvaged. Also, is it easier to install the clips into the trim piece first and just snap it onto the piller, or is it better to try and slide the trim onto the clips after they are in the piller? Another question for people using an electric fuel pressure guage, where did you mount the module?
Thanks
Thanks
i got the autometer dual guage pod on my bird and i never had to take the whole a pillar peice off. i just lined up the guage pod where i wanted it on the pillar. had a friend hold it and i drilled holes through the guage pod and through the a pillar then took the little black plastic pins and shoved them through and its all finished
I put a triple guage pod on my Camaro. And let me tell you I hate those darn little white clips. So What I did is I took them off the trim piece itself and I took the other piece out that is on the metal of the car. (If that made sense) And I went to my local auto parts stroe. And I bought the little black dorr and trim clips, not the ones designed for the A-Pillar. And let me tell you they are very easy to install and take the A-Pillar out. I also bought those white clips and after fighting with them for about an hour I gave up and did it the easy way. Oh and yes the A-Pillar stays up by itself and does not move around one bit.
Crappy picture but just giving you an idea ...

V6camaroman - How the heck did you run the wires without taking the trim off?
HaroGT14 - Thats a really good idea using body pins. How do you get the old white clips out of the piller though? I managed to slide the trim off without the clips, so they are still stuck in the actual A-piller. I've been fighting them with pliars and a screw driver, but the tabs just keep breaking off.

well i got the guage pod on and guages in it but i havent got them hooked up yet. when i first replied ot the post i forgot i havent got them hooked up yet. but yes i do have to take the a pillar off to run the wires. forgot to mention that the first time. wasnt thinking. sry
On my A-Pillar ... my clips just slid out of their little holding spot on one end. But remember if u break the tabs ... u can always nail glue them back up. Thats what happened to one of my little clip holding spots and it is still holding to this day.

what would be some good gauges to get with these pods that our stock gauges don't already show. I'm not talking about Boost or Nitrous or anything.
Well, I'll be using an air/fuel ratio meter, and an electric fuel pressure guage that reads up to 100psi. You don't need nitrous or a turbo for those to come in handy.
After I get these installed, I'll post a picture of them. It may be a few days or more though.

Hey Mike, I installed my guage pods..(even though there not hooked up yet)....and didn't really have any problems with the clips....couple of'em broke though. But....I had my headliner replaced so they put all new clips into my pillars too. But...post some pics when you get it installed. That'll be cool..!
It's just a plastic pod made by Autometer. You can get one from Jegs for around $24 I think.
Where did everyone mount the module for their electric fuel pressure guage? I'm thinking of just mounting it inside the center console where it'll be hidden.

What module are you talking about? I have an Autometer Phantom 2 1/16 Fuel Press. gauge and all it came with was the senser, which i installed in the fuel line right before the carb.

The Electricity Board seems to move a little slower so I'll add this here.

Anyway, I got those clips out, and purchased some of those button head body pins. Those will do the job and be alot easier to pull back out if need be.
