Question about my rearview mirror.

Hi, I have a question about my rearview mirror. I've only had this car a couple months now & this has been bugging me.

My rearview mirror has an empty female pronged plug and what seems to be some sort of sensor. Is this some sort of auto dimming mirror? It also seems to have something missing from it, there is a connection port on the back of the mirror that is not being used.

There are no wires running to/from the mirror, so if this is an auto dimming mirror, is it still working? What is this missing piece?

thanks,

I believe that your correct as to the auto dimming feature.
Check around the front edge of your headliner( it might have been recovered and they never plugged the mirror back in). Thats were the feed wires for the mirror come from, thats where I'd be looking.
I read that it debuted in f-bodies in 86 so that is prob. what you have.Of course from what I've read and heard 86 was a screwed up year model.Just my luck I own one too.

Thanks, I want to put in an overhead console, so I look for the wire then.

BTW, Gotta love the '86's :hail:

Thanks again
