forward opening hood?

yes. ive performed a search, cant find what i need. Has anyone tried this? Do you think you could use the factory hinges and just flip them to the front and hinge in the back? Also, wouldn't you have to stick the hinges really close to the front so that the front part of the hood wont "dip" into the engine bay/ front nose clip? Im thinking that if you mount the hinges really close to the front of the car, you could get the rest to line up. The hinge might take some bracket fabercation, but that isnt too bad. Are there any reliable kits to do this? Im gonna go and measure it up, and see if i can try it. I might have to use a prop rod as apposed to the traditional shocks, due to the relocating of the center of gravity and where the mount is attached to. tell me what you think.

All you really need to do is weld in some nuts in the right places(for the hood hinges) on the hood and on the fenders. Noext you need to move the hood latch to the rear and change the latch so it doesn't have the release lever.

Here's some pics from an old thread about this.

(Yes, there are old threads, you just have to search a little harder to find them)

Is there any reason to want to do this other than looks? I don't see how it would make it any easier to work on. I don't think our cars look good like that but that is my .02.

i think it looks good ot the point of origionality, as for myself i couldnt do that. im a lil guy and when i work on the engine i literally climb in to get to things. that big ol hood like that seems liek it would get in my way more.

I have a 67 jaguar E-TYPE that has the hood like that (actually all jags are like that). It is a pain in the *** to do anything on it. its easier to just take the hood (bonnet) off.

I like the idea. It's for a custom effect- same reason that people put rims on their cars.

It does look cool, at shows, but its not to practical for an everyday car. Good luck, those to pics are the only camaros I've seen with hoods like that, I've heard peolpe talking about using hinges fom other car with hoods like like, You would see what cars they are talking about if you look at old threads, Try searching under "reverse opening hood"

Find a mid 90's lesabre at the junkyard and take the hinges. That's the way the guy with the purple one did it. I myself have looked at doing it but I don't wanna deal with the pain of wrenching on my car like that.

I believe mid-late 80's Olds Delta 88's and 98's had hoods like this. I think the Buick park avenues did, too.

yep older buick park avenues had them like that. i think they open a little further then these converted thirdgens and they were a little easier to work on.

would be great if you could come up with a way to have it hinged both ways. better yet have the rear come up then slide back over the roof
