What do you guys think of my ashtray switch panel??

OK Guys, I installed a McCord Power Plate on my exhaust cut out..and it's sooo awesome...anyhow....I wanted a switch panel to put my toggle switch an my LED light on....I did have just a black piece of plastic where my ashtray was...but..I wanted to "spice" it up a lil. So.....I cut a piece of aluminum the same size as the ashtray.....polished it....used epoxy to secure it in place...now...I just have to re-drill my holes and it will be done.....and of coarse....the lid does shut.....so it's not open all the time....just when I want to adjust my cutout volume...So.....you guys like it? Think it's stupid?...any thoughts, opinions, ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I believe it switches the exhaust from open headers to the full exhaust. Usefull for track days so you can get a bit more power with out any mechanical work to the car. Just a flip of a switch and you've got open headers.

I can get a couple close ups here in a few.....well..I don't have headers on my car....(yet)..but...you could use the Power Plate for that too if you wanted. I have my cut-out located in the intermediate 3 inch pipe. I got the McCord Power Plate so I can adjust the volume of my exhaust system. I can have it 3 inch cat back 80 series Flowmaster sound......or I can have it.....loud as hell....or...anywhere between...so..I can set the sound level of my exhaust....it's really kewl.

is your plate flush with the console top portion of the tray or is it sort of recessed? if its recessed i think i might be cool to put a little neon light or something so u can see the switches at night if they arent lighted switches

I made mine out of smoked plexiglass from an old headlight cover I had laying around. It worked OK but I couldn't close the ashtray door... Hopefully this is a better design to copy

I did the same thing (sorta) in my old Camaro. I removed the metal ashtray and super-glued a matching piece of black ABS plastic to the bottom to make a "floor." I then mounted mini toggle switches in it to control the subs and the fans in the amp rack. With the lid closed, you would never know.

Thanks fellas..well...I cut out a piece of aluminum..hand polished it...and epoxied it to the bottom...(where the ashtray was)......if I ever get some new batteries..I'll make sure to post some pictures of the top..and the underneath. The lid closes fine.....The switch is a chrome toggle switch with 1 red LED light. I thought about maybe hooking up 2 red LED's....and then mounting the switch in the middle....it might be kinda cool. Let me see if I can get some batteries now!!

Any close up pics yet? Getting my MPP soon and am starting to think about where i would put the toggle switch. How is the switch that they give you, ok or would you rather have another one? More pics would be great! Nice work.

I just got some batteries for the digital Camera....I'll take some pictures of it today...Go here....you can see what it looks like installed: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...5&goto=newpost
As you probably know.....McCord offers a wide variety of switches....but..I just went with the one they gave me.....it's a 2 way chrome little toggle switch with an LED light.....it's small....and to the point. I'll get some close up's. Thanks!
