Rear Hatch Weatherstripping

I just ordered a new GM Hatch Glass Weatherstripping. Now For those who installed new ones is it necessary to put some sort of silicone bead/adhesive between the weatherstripping?

Thanks
Nate

I doubt it. I just installed mine and it fits tight! Maybe in the summer when it's hot the weather strip might stick to the hatch and I will need some weather strip adhesive. I just don't see myself needing any adhesive right now, especially if you put silicone on the seal or wax on the hatch glass.

I put adheasive on mine to keep it stuck down to the body and plus you never know if the water will go under it and into the car.

thats the problem i have...water is somehow seeping thru into the spair tire area. hopefully the new weatherstripping will prevent all this.

Check this on your hatch. I tried about every trick in the book looking for the leak that was going into my spare tire compartment. I had my dad spray down my hatch with water will I squeezed into the back of it and watched water go over the top of the weatherstripping and inbetween the hatch. I checked the hatch and found this plastic rectangle thing that could be pulled back and water was getting thru there and into my hatch.
Something neat you cant upload any pics that you have done before so you'll have to click on this instead.

looks like water goes thru the top of ur weatherstripping. my leak looks like it goes between the stripping underneath. if my leak went over the stripping there would be water stains on the plastic part that covers the spair but not in my case. and the plastic rectangle thing ur talkong about, i dont see anything like that in my car. it doesnt look like anything moves. well if its clear tomorrow ill try spraying some water down on the area where it leaks. hopefully i can pinpoint it.
