my rear hatch latch is completely broken, it is falling apart and is no longer hooked up to any electrical source. Now the real trick is that today I went to my local Chevy Dealer looking for that part and they said it is dicontinued for the model latch I need... My car is a 1990 RS Camaro. I dont have the remote hatch release. All It does I think is latches then electricly bring it all the way down...? is that right. I have never seen it work correctly. But I really need this part and I dont really know where I can find one... The dealer wasnt too much help either.

The motorized hatch pull-down unit was standard on 1986-91. Mid 91 the design changed and they were available as an option.

my 90 firebird does not have this, least i dont think so. its a very base model v6 w/ no power windows, locks, or cruise.

 

It's a cool feature, but's it's also just another thing to break. They do seem to break with amazing frequency.

 

Ya i got a prob with my latch. It does not bring the hatch down like it used to. I got a v-6 87 firebird. It worked when i bought the car but lately it does not retrack i can hear it just no move ment. Hawks 3rd gen parts has the hatch parts you may need. Look at the broken hatch and then search Hawks web page. A link to it is on 3rd gen's home page.

Thats why I'm glad I installed a power release silenoid for my no power optioned SC. I did originally wanted to put a pull down unit on my car but decieded not to due to the fab work I would have had to do.
