Cigarette Lighter Removal Question
Cigarette Lighter Removal Question
How do you remove the cigarette lighter (the cylinder part thing) from the ashtray compartment? I have it sitting here on my couch and I can't figure out how to take it out without breaking the rest of the plastic area. (The plastic is chipped, cracked, and not in good condition as it is, and I don't want to break it any more.)
Any tips? I'm really confused.

Somehow I got mine out without breaking the plastic. When I was looking at it, it looks like the inside screws into the outter piece. I think you might be able to grip the inside and turn the outside and it should come apart.
But i used vise-grip and just smashed it to the point where I could rip it to little pieces to get it out. I think a Dremel would do a pretty good job of getting it out as well. Sorry, but I think just ripping it out carefully is your only option because if you have broke some of the plastic, I'm assuming that thing is pretty mangled at this point.

Yeah, I was trying vise grips on the outside and trying to grip the inside part with pliers to unscrew it but I just bent it up. I couldn't get it to unscrew. I was thinking of just bending the crap out of it until I could get it out too.
The plastic was already messed up from before, not from this, but I still would rather save what I have verses buying a whole new piece.
Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going going to beat the **** out of it until I can get it out.
