problem with door handle/arm rest

alright, we just completed putting the 8pt roll bar in my dad's 85z and we can no longer close the doors with the arm rests in place. we took them off for now, but it looks hideous. has anyone ran into this problem before? and if so, how was it remedied. if you have pics, that would be appreciated. also, has anyone tried using a smaller piece from another car?

You usually need to get side bars that are clearanced for the door arm rests (have 2 bends in them where the arm rest should be). I've heard of people taking straight ones and bending them to get a curved effect to clear the arm rests. S&W sales them for about 45 bucks in a kit which has them clearanced for both sides.
