Welcome to the boards! Try a search if you can not get a "good" answer. Sorry i don't know too well. I am familliar with the camaro swaps, but not swaps with consoles going into a firebird. I am almost positive your center console is different from camaros. There is a thread that shows both types of 4th gen consoles. good luck

Welcome to the boards!!
Yes, a 4th gen center console will bolt right into a 3rd. gen Firebird. You want a 97+ console as there are more cup holders. If you have power mirrors and windows you have to fabricate something to hold those switches. Because the 4th gen auto console has the shifter about 4" to the rear of where the 3rd gen shifter is, you want a manual trans. console. Pictures of mine installed are on the web site in my signature
A search would have negated the need to start this thread, but because your new we'll let it slide
Again welcome to the boards! Good Luck! (GL!)

in his defense, i don't find the search to be all that helpful. every once in a while, i have a basic question, which i know has to have been asked millions of times, but my searches are unsuccessful.

I took 1/8" plexiglass and gradually worked into shape to fit where the ashtray was in the console. Once it fit snug I found dead center and cut the hole for the power mirror switch. Once that was done I cut the holes for the window switches. It's a tight fit for all three but can be done. I used a Dremel and cutoff wheels (2 mounted together) to do the cutting. Once done and after I tweaked everything for fit, I spray painted the bottom of the plexi and let it dry. I then went and got a product from Ace hardware called "Plastic Weld" and placed the plexi in place of the ashtray lid in the console. I used a couple clamps and glued it in. Some of the paint came off in the glue process, but you can hardly tell.
I had 3 peices of plexi that broke on me, or that I over shaped before I got it right. Go slow and easy!
