How can I get window tint off?

I'm going to get the tint redone on my car. The previous owner had some tint on there that looks like he did it himself. I'm not worried about the front windows, but I am worried about the back glass. How can I get it off without damaging the defrost? Spray ammonia on it or something? I can just scrape the stuff off the front windows with a razor blade right? Also, what % of tint do you guys think would look good on my car? I don't care if it's illegal. It's a white 88 GTA. I was thinking 5%. Matt

KC...........I used fingernail polish remover to get the tint off of the rear hatch on my car..........get a big bottle of it though cause it dries up quick.......it will eat the film up real quick........

do a search in the appearence and detailing board for 'tint'. The removal of tint is brought up in nearly every thread related to tint. most of the time it is removed with ammonia and a razor blade.
