GTA at a scrap yard..
theres a GTA around here at a junkyard for a parts car, dont remember the year off hand, but we asked the guy how much whole car is, hes asking $1500 for all... car is a 5.7 TPI 225k original miles ... wrecked front end a bit.. the bumper cover is in the interior of the car, the GTA emblem on bumper cover is pretty smashed up. didnt really take out thte bumper cover to see how bad it was ... there was no passener fender. the hood on it is the same hood that my friends 86 Trans Am has, the one with the 2 slots up front, and one slot on each side towards windshield...
We asked if it ran , he said only on ether. maybe the fuel pump or somehting is shot? (what else could it be? maybe easily fixable?) And the front bumper, i guess it would be, was bent a little. looked like it might be able to be straigtened out tho , wasnt a bad bend.. didnt notice anything else messed up really... the steering wheel has the radio controls on it.. but im not too sure the radio worked.. i turned it on and it looked like the bottom half of the LCD screen was burrnt out or somehting? does this steering wheel work with aftermarket CD players? or only the tape player that came in the car?
it has power windows, but the driver side doesnt work any more , it is stuck rolled down about half way. the passenger side seems to be going out very soon, it rolled down really slow. power locks worked fine. automatic. wraparound wing. power driver side seat (dont think it worked) the passenger seat had 2 bars in the front, one to move it back and forward, other tilted up and down. pretty sure it had overhead console. T-tops. the front seats were half plastic and half cloth, (the backs of the seats were plastic, fronts and cushion were cloth. ) never really looked how good condition back seats were, cuz of the bumper cover being in the way.
there was a puddle of ice on the floor behind the driver seat. either from just the window being rolled down about halfway, or a mix of the window being down and t top leak? dont know for sure if they leak tho. the hood is not connected to the car anymore, but just laying on top of motor. the hood hinges are in hatch tho.
if i can think of anything else with this car or if anyone has questions on it ill try to find out more info for it. i can go back up there and get the phone # so i dont have to drive out there anymore lol ...
after me describing it, what do you guys think a decent price is for this?
thanks - steve

I don't think that would be a bad deal. Walk in there with $1,000 in cash and plop it down and see if he will take it. I probably wouldn't fix it up, but you could use it for parts for another GTA, or part it out. That TPI stuff from the intake up can go for $1,000 by itself. Then you can get $400 for those wheels if they're in good shape. You could rebuild the motor for a few hundred bucks and sell it for maybe $1,000. If you do want to fix it up, you can order those GTA emblems from places like Hawks. Matt
