Who's got Keyless entry and autostart?
I am getting keyless entry installed next saturday and I was wonderin if anyone else has it. They were gonna install remote start as well, but after hearing horror stories about people sending there manual vehicles thru buildings and various other objects that are hard and will damage my car, I decided not to go w/ auto start, my car is fine in the driveway, I dont need it in my living room, thank u very much. So anyone else have either of these?

I had both on my 94 Sunbird, 3.1 Auto. In VA, the law says you can't have remote start on a manual car.
Keyless entry is a nice option to have on the car, I need to get that on my 86 T/A.

instead of having to push the clutch in have it so the p brake must be pulled (just slightly). I have a manual car and that works great for me, cant launch the car into a building w/ the hand brake on!

I work at Best Buy in northern Virginia, and yes, it is illegal here to have it on a manual. But I have the clifford RS2 and I love it. Alarm, Auto start, and keyless entry. The auto start really gets good attention!

whats nice is when u have power hatch also like my sisters car. So i also hooked up the hatch it feels weird just hitting a button and the hatch opens up. You also have to hold it for 3 sec so i dont open on accident.

i'd go with dei since they make a good majority of the alarms out there from your basic gorilla "all in one" ordeal to your multi stage sidewinder and viper series.
when i first bought mine it came with your standard remote and basic 4 channels.
1. unlock/lock
2. panic
3. remote start
4. trunk
i then added on to it a few years later these goodies:
4 120 db mini sirens, pager system, 2 hidden cameras w/ recorder and wireless link to laptop.
+8 channel upgrade "this allows you to add more comands to the remote" you set the buttons in patterns, so far i've only used 6.
1. red neons
2. white neons
3. yellow neons
4. remote nitrous purge
5. drivers window
6. passenger window
i found this brand to be the easiest to add on to and offer the most options.
clifford and alpine both make similar alarms but cost a little more.

you cannot launch a manual car through a wall, it would just lurch forward then stall itself!
The problem is you disconnect your clutch switch so you can use autostart so when you park it and leave it in gear it starts but the clutch is engaged (clutch switch will not allow car to start unless clutch pedal is in and the clutch is disengaged)so the car will lurch as the power gets sent to the wheels but then the engine stalls because you aren't giving it any gas to keep moving.
If you get autostart you have to park the car in neutral and use the e-brake to keep car from rolling. Car wont lurch using autostart unless you leave it parked in a gear!

ive seen countless remote starts on a manual car. i think as long as you dont have a color blind monkey cutting your wires, you'll be alright. hooking up wires to your neutral safety switch and to your ebrake are just two things you can do to make sure your manual car is safe with a remote start.

Well I WAS gonna get keyless entry, but my girlfriends mom decided out of the blue that my GF (Ash) has to pay for her own insurance. Well ash had already payed for proms stuff and was bout $100 short on insurance, so I gave her $125 (my keyless entry money) so she can pay it. Prioritys first I guess, and she's #1, car is #2. I'll get it sooner or later anywayz. And Im getting power windows for free from an awesome thirdgenner (Mike) in wisconsin, its all good!

Clifford used to make a autostart unit that was legal on the manual car. At least in Texas.
I used to have autostart/keyless entry and all of that stuff on my 1998 F-150XLT. I do plan on getting the stuff again for my Trans-AM. But I am going to wait until I get my interior replaced all the way. I will also fixup some other stuff first.

I love my remote start/keyless entry on my truck. One of the things I hated most about Chicago winters was getting into a freezing cold vehicle and freezing for the first 10 mins of the drive until the heat caught up. Problem solved. It works good to cool the truck on 95* days in the summer too. The key is remembering to crank on your heat (or A/C) before you get out of the car, so it will be on full blast when you remote-start it.
One thing I found out is that if your car came from the factory with keyless entry and you want to add remote start, you'll either have to carry two remotes or have the new remote run your keyless entry too. That's what I did.

I've got a Viper remote Start system. It's bad *** to see people's faces when I've got the red light on the front going and the Knight Rider theme in the CD player, and the car starts.............if only the belt wasn't loose and squeeked like hell!

i got a compustar system in mine(canadian) it has the starter, alarm, and doors on it, i can start it from a 1/4 mile away, its a 2 way paging system which means it pages me if the alarm is set off and even shows me on the remote what part of the car set it off. when the car is started it lets me know(picture of car with exshat coming out) so thats nice u never have to look out to see if it actually started. and even has a valet mode which puts it in a limp mode so the car can not be driven to hard lol
