wonder if the six-LED bulbs superbright has on their site would work...
or would there be fitment issues?
if so ill just grab the quads i think.
if 89blackGTA used the singles and his came out like that, the quads should be more than enough to do the trick.

Brian, how did you change the rest of your interior lights? I got the gauges done but i dont know how to do the rest or even if they take the same bulbs? My dash lights arent all that bright and seem to be a little more whiteish/yellowish mixed in with the blue. I think behind the actual gauges is white so i'll paint that blue to accent more blue i guess. Any thoughts?

What's the best way?
Hey, I've been reading countless of these topics, and I can't really seem to get a straight idea of what the best route is (well, other than straight solder of led's)
I wanna plug and play, but what would be better, the 4 or 6 led's from superbrightled's or what?
And when you guys say you can't see it at dusk, do you mean like you just can't see that it's blue, or it doesn't even light up the dash at all and you can't see the guages period?
And for blue led's, what would be the best color to paint the backpanel? blue, white or silver?
thanks for any help, and anyone post pics if they have any too!!

anyone try a nordskog digital dash ?
Those LEDs look really good! has anyone installed a nordskog LED dash...how do you like it? They are a little pricey but very cool...not as cool as your custom stuff though!
here is nordskog's link.http://nordskogperformance.net/dp4003.html

All those yellow dashes look the same as mine. Putting white LEDs behind them probably will just keep them that nasty yellow. Putting blues behind there will probably turn them green. Screwed both ways. Time to make new overlays I guess?
What the hell was with the yellow in the early 90s?

I put the 6 LED bulbs in my turn signals (and lower red idiot lights) in my dash. I used the green ones (30,000mcd I think it says on the SuperBrightLED site?) for hte blinkers and red ones for the idiot lights. Motherbitches are BRIGHT. The blinkers light up like shift lights when I turn them on at night. I can see myself in the rearview mirror quite well... but in green

They light up equally bright.. the pic looks odd for some reason. It was a very bright day out when I took that picture... just to give some reference. Put the flashers on an timed the picture.
I don't know how well they would light up behind the gauges though... I put one of them in my side blinkers for ****s and giggles and all it did was light up a bright green dot. No way I'd use them in my side blinkers.
I did have to make the socket holes grow a bit... persuading the holes w/ a router bit deal. It was quite close. One or two of the lights fit without persuasion.
Hope that helps a little ...

Dont have blue but white LEDs on my camaro.1st pic, here are the gauges(im using eight 4 LED bulbs & three wide angle LEDs).the hvac though is using xenons right now.Thats a firebird hvac.BTW they use three #74 bulbs. Also if you want to reflect the most light from the metal bezel.I used aluminum foil over the blue area.I cut 1/4in squares of double sided tape & applied them on the back of the bezel to hold the foil in place.I have the dimmer turned down almost all the way in the pic

Those Camaro gauges are really plain, looks like a doctors light over a flat gauge. The birds look cool stock, with the red/orange gauges.

hmmm...
Maybe this'll help solve some problems....
ok, after seeing Ed's custom made clear "RS" L.E.D emblems, and reading all these posts, why not just get a few feet of fiber-optic string and then epoxy some cut lenghts of it around the inner centers of all the gauges!?!?!?
From what I remember, Ed stated that the light given off by the LED's tended to show up where he used epoxy. Furthermore, fiber-optic string is a great known light conductor...so I'm assuming that my idea would definitely solve some visibility issues with LED's illuminating the whole gauge.

Hey so that blue hvac is stock? I want a lit up blue hvac but I don't know how to do it. It lights up red, but the bulbs in the back of it are clear. So there's like a red fillament in there somewhere that makes it red. Can anyone help me here and figure a way to get a blue hvac?
And also, getting a little off the topic, what if you blacked out your taillights, but then used the brightest led bulbs inside the taillights, and always kept your parking lights on when driving. If bright enough, you wouldn't even be able to tell the lights were shaded/blacked out unless the car was off. Maybe helping those of us who live in places where blackouts would get us in trouble?

KBeez...
I saw on the SuperBrightLeds.com site, that theres some ultra bright white, red, and blue clusters that have like 15 LED's in them. My thinking on the blacked out tails, is that if youmade your own cluster board(aka: pc board with 2 rows of 4 -15LED clusters) and then mounted them in place of the stock tail bulbs, then you'd definitely have some great new tail lights that you could see from anywhere.
:nono: HOWEVER.....I believe that in all states, the only legal color of tail lights is red. So just make sure you check the local ordinances and state stat.'s before you do anything!

PRO CAR PARTS...
k, I just ordered these from ProCarParts.com,
They should be here on the 3rd, so we'll see what happens when I get them!
The total was $41.00 and some change, with tax & S+H included.
IMO, PCP is a good site to order from, as they give you a UPS tracking number to use and have an easy ordering system.
-G
P.S- there's another pair that PCP sells which are white during the day, and go up to 140MPH, that Jgifford has. But correct me if i'm wrong bro!

...oh, and for those wondering why i didnt get the white 140 set, it's because my T/A is that dark metallic sapphire color, and since I already have a blue-lit head unit, I wanted everything to match.

update..
ok, so my new inlays from ProCarParts.com arrived last night as scheduled, and they look amazing! Something that was'nt mentioned in the site's product discription, is that they come with an on/off switch that lets you adjust the display color(blue or green) and how bright they are.
Like I said, they look kick *** in person and I cant wait to get them in. I'm too tired to take pics right now, but I will later on this morning as I continue my install update.

k, heres the update. I've got a small oral surgery on Monday morning, and thus I've got Mon-Thur off of work. Still no pics YET, but hey...when you're doing 48+ hours/week of manual labor...you sorta dont feel like doing much other than sleeping after! So I know i've kinda slacked with the pics, but i do promise that I will have before, during & after install pics up sometime later this week!

here is another link to LED bulbs sold at auto Zone.jamstrait.com
http://autolumination.com/194.htm
if you scroll down to the bottom, you'll see that they sell the empty wedges, so you can get your own LEDs and create your own.
The superwhite LEDs that they use have more of a purple look to them. So I bought some 21,000mcd 5mm superwhites from elsewhere and installed 3 in a base. I put them in the lights for the runner boards on my 4Runner. Look really cool!!!
I also put some in the parking lights too, almost looks like I installed HID parking lights
