door sills

are there any door sills from other vehicles that will fit with our thirdgen f-bodys?

say maybe from a pickup truck or even cross breeds?

i'm looking for some custom pannels, yet no one seems to make them for our vehicles. i figured if another sill from other vehicles like a gm truck as example would work then i could try that route rather than having to custom cut something.

a 4thgen pannel would almost work but i'd rather have something that looks like it belongs rather than having to cut it up.

Im speaking with someone right now on some carbon fiber replicas of the stock pieces, should be available in the regular cf look, possibly other colors of cf, and tinted so they're just plain black but dont break like the stock ones.

You interested ?

Good luck there kandied. I looked all over the place to try and find anything that i could use..cause my door sill plates are all cracked and scratched up. Only thing i could some up with is i contacted a auto place in oklahoma and they found me a really decent pair of used ones in good condition. So when i got them..i washed them with degreaser, sanded them, primered them and then painted them high gloss back. The paint was flexible paint so it got into all the little spots. I think they came out really nice. Way better then my stock ones. Heres a pic:
Let me know if you find anything...hope this helps.

I've done a search as well with no luck. I don't think you'll have much luck swapping from another vehicle either because of the lip on our door sills that goes over the edge of the doorway. If I remember correctly, that piece doesn't have any hardware holding it down, the actual door sill itself is screwed down, correct? So you couldn't even cut that edge off and affix another door sill, without coming up with some way of holding down that tiny inner molding. This is all theorized mind you, I haven't actually had a chance to look at mine in a while, so maybe I'm wrong.

I would be interested in the carbon fiber pieces but i bet they will not be cheap. Those stock pieces break so easily and show alot of wear.
