water leak

I have a 1983 Camaro Z-28. The drivers floor is wet, so I know I have a water leak somewhere. Up until recently it was just the the drivers floor, but now even the floor behind the driver is wet. I just put new carpet in the car a year and a half ago and I don't want to ruin it, plus I'm afraid the floor will start to rust.

I know someone with a 91 or 92 Camaro and he said his drivers flor in wet too. The windshield in my car is still the original I think. Could the seal around the windshield be leaking? Or could there be a seem in the cowl or on the firewall that may be leaking?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

maybe not much help, but i'll share my experience... right after i changed my heater core, i was doing a confidence check sometime later on, and low and behold, there was a wet spot - only no anti-freeze associated with it. i at least determined that it happened when it rained, or if i washed the car. when i finally got to really checking out where it was coming from, i pulled the carpet back and climbed in to the seat while i had my wife douche down the windshield area and soon enough, it started trickling in. it was coming from the joint where the firewall, kickpanel, and floorboard panels met - if you're looking at it (passenger side), it's like the very upper right corner of the dash. basically, the sealant just started rotting and leaking. i got a good temp fix on it, but gotta go back and fix it a little better. that sealant just kinda dry rots, i guess, and starts cracking... might want to check all that... hopefully that'll help some, or give you some ideas. good luck with it...

I just bought an 84 Z28 aand I also had water in the rear seats and floor. I found a small hole in the rear wheel well. I stuck my finger thru and I could feel the material of the seat!! I think my rear hatch is leaking too because there was a puddle in the rear well. I haven't had time to soak the areas and see where exactly. I do have t-tops and they may be leaking.
