GTA / Firebird Door panel in a Camaro?

Well...I searched. Didn't find any details on people who've done it.

What I want to do is install a pair of the "molded" door panels that came in GTA's, Trans Am's etc...I know they came in more than just the GTA, as my neighbor's son has a '87 TA, and it has 'em. They look much better than the "all fabric" style.

The only difference from looking at the outside is the trim around the door handle / lock etc.

The swap itself doesn't concern me...just wondering if I need any parts off the donor car with these door panels to perform the swap.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You do not need anything special. The only difference is in the molding around the handle. I have GTA style door panels and I would love to find replacements. Mine are pretty worn.

P.S. The armrests are also different.

armrests

I think the armrests will fit just fine but they are a little different.

I'm doing this too- 91 TA panels in an 84 Camaro- I have both panels off- I'll try to get pics tonight.

You will want the brackets the arm rests sit on from the GTA.

So you didn't use the armrest bracket from the GTA / Firebird?

Just wondering... I guess I'll find out for myself if I ever find a set for a DECENT price.

$200 for a pair of USED panels? Man... I can make custom panels and have 'em covered how I want for cheaper than that...

Junkyard time.
