Interior Lighting under the dash board!?

Hey guys, There is a major lack of lighting in the interior of my Firebird. I have the map lights on the rearview mirror and the dome light.

I want to install a mini bulb for light under the driver and passanger side of my dashboard. Is this at all possible? And how would I go about doing this?

Thanks, Joe E. (Firebirdjoe)

My 89 Formula already has lights under the dash in the footwell area, so the wiring may already be there. All you would have to do is tap into it.

Either that, or find where your dome light wiring comes into the car, tap into that, and add a separate switch for the dash lighting.

On all thirdgens (pretty sure) there is a female ended plug with an orange and white wire leading to it, for a male plug to go into. It is there when you take off the drivers side underdash panel. I had it in my SC, which didnt have the lights.

Next, I had a parts car, with the lights. So I unplugged the male connector from the female, and pulled it out with the wiring for the lights, and plugged it into mine...And tada, I have underdash domelights.

You see, the female plug is already tapped into the dome light wires, so it will work automatically! No splicing required!
