after more seaching i found that 93-96 work, 97-02 work you have to use a manual or move the shifter. adn that there is a big gap between the old radio pod and the new console, i figured id just stick some black foam or styrafoam in there so it will fit the shape and look like its all one. i even found a 98 bird and a 93 camaro in a junk yard that i can get parts out of so im on my way. one thing i havent found yet is where to install the window switches? i saw a few pics of in the ashtrey but how do i modify it so that it fits there? thanks alot.
I put a 95 Camaro console in my 84 bird a few weeks ago. There is a little gap, but I custom fabbed a piece of plastic to somewhat cover it. Check out the pics:
The 97+ console will be a better fit + it has more cupholders. If I had a choice, I would have got a 97+, but I found the 95 for $100. Well worth the upgrade, I'll never go back to the stock 3rd gen console!
Also, for the window switches, it was a very easy install on the ashtray lid. I simply cutout the bottom part of the ashtray, so there was a straight hole thru it. I screwed the sides of the lid to the inside of the console, so that the lid cannot be opened anymore. Then I cutout holes for the switches. In my opinion, they look great!
If you have any questions, ask away!
