My original headliner wasn't doing to well after 23 years and over 311,000 miles, so as a quick fix i bought a replacement ABS headliner but it was cut for and came with an overhead console. It was originally installed in a an 86 Trans Am and it fit well and installed easy into my 92 Trans Am with one problem.
There is a pretty large gap between the console and the headliner.
Anyone else run into this? It didn't come with the reinforcement piece, all the special screws are tightened down well. I will say the screws came from another car but i figured all the screws were the same.
See items #17 & 18 on the link. I had the same problem when I installed a new abs headliner even after following instructions and using the template to cut the new holes from here on third gen.org. The aforementioned reinforcement piece for the stock headliner wont work on an abs style due to the stronger nature of the material compared to the original style.
