Where can I find a overhead console that they put in 85-87 trans am I want one really bad I done my research an it said that they came on t-top an hard top cars is there a company out there making reproduction pieces or do I have to hunt eBay an private sellers to find one

 

You might be able to find one on Hawks or Third Gen Ranch. Otherwise a junk yard search might do you some luck.

 

No repo's, so you'll have to search. Before you purchase, make sure that ALL parts are offered, to include a bit of wiring harness and the mounting studs. If not, you'll spend a lot of time, effort, and cash in attempting to locate the separate pieces. Also, buy the appropriate console for your car--either coupe or t-top. Further, take note that the Camaro flash light reads "Camaro" while the cousin will read "Firebird."

The only thing I have seen for sale for the console that is new is the replacement lense on Classic Industries. I got one for mine as the original one yellow'd over time.

 

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE T-TOP AND HARDTOP OVERHEAD CONSOLES!!!

The t-top model is kinda flat where it meets with the headliner,

The hardtop has sides on it.

wiring and the mounting screws are a huge plus!!!

you will have to cut either headliner to have these installed.

I have a Hard top and a T top overhead consoles including flashlights, I will defiantly sell the T-top one.

 

Wasn't the Berlinetta with a roof console, the only third gen Camaro that had the delay interior lighting once you opened or closed the doors?

The reason i'm asking is because on my 1987 owner's manual, it says that if you have the roof console, it comes with that feature.

 

I guess it's been answered somewhat. Still would like to know if any 1987's have the delay lighting.

if you have one of those plastic headliners on a coupe, the coupe console WILL NOT FIT!!!! The contours are completely wrong. I have a feeling the coupe abs headliner is a t top one with molded in openings, it has the backbone running down the middle. If I had to make an educated guess I'd say the T top console would fit with that headliner.

 

You are correct about fitment. When I replaced my old headliner in my coupe with a plastic one, there was a good sized gap with the console on either side. I just ended up using some extra rubber cushions from my old dash pad to bring the headliner down a bit. Worked fine.

The t-top console will not fit the coupe even with the plastic headliner. The coupe has more of a curve towards the windshield.

 

Here's a pic and how I got the console to fit right with what I had mentioned before.

 

Hawks third Gen, does have them. For trip and hardtop. I think they are like 100$

I need to do that with mine. I have that same red headliner, but mine has that darned gap above the console. Wish I had known it was fixable before I put my A-pillar trim back on, there's no way I could get that trim back off now without breaking it.

What do you mean by "rubber cushion"?
