That may be too much work.
Someone correct me if i am wrong, but your best bet is to
A- Use a saw, and make a clean cut to slide the belts in
B- Get the same piece of from Firedbird 'Vert, and screw it on.

i just did this switch, i found it very easy to just use a sawzall and cut a slit. its not very noticable.i personally think it looks better with the new ones on
but the old ones should screw in just fine

It looks like you already got the answer, but yeah...dont take the belts off. Either cut the existing guide or go buy new ones for a 'vert. They're cheap enough.
