extra leg room

I have an 84Z28 that now has manual 3rd gen seats. I live in Australia and am waiting to be delivered a set of 4th gen power seats. What I am thinking of doing when they arrive to get extra leg room is to make up a type of extended bracket for the seats to be mounted on. I am thinking of bolting this made up bracket using the bolts already in my car and attaching the seat track to it. I figure on getting maybe a couple of extra inches on the leg room. Anyone tried to do something like this or anything else that might help. It really means a lot to me because the car has been converted to right-hand drive and there is less leg room on the other side. Any feed-back? Thanks.

i know the 4th gen power has about 2-3 in more travel than the 3rd gen power seat, and the 3rd gen power seat has about an in more travel than a 3rd gen non power. you may not need to make a braket. just make sure that the pass side seat has power, because most camaros did not have it, and about half of the ta's did.

thanks

The power seats that I have coming are from a 99 TransAm. Both seats are power. I know that both of them are power but someone just told me that the passenger seat may not go forward and backward like the drivers seat. Would that be the case or if it is power, wouldnt it also have exactly the same functions as the drivers seat? Any ideas? Anyway, maybe like you said I may not need to make that bracket(I hope).

i know that the power lumbar is on both seats, but the seat rack may still be manual, if that is what they mean, othorwise, i dont see why it wouldnt go back as far.

thanks

It will be about two months before I get the seats and installed, but will keep all informed. May help someone else if I do have to extend the track, but hopefully it wont be necessary. Dealing with the short side of the car is even worse to get that extra leg room. Also, the driving wheel will not extend to allow only a certain distance. Thanks for the info.
