How about the struts for the fiberglass hoods on the 82 and 83 cars? Those struts were not as strong, and using the ones for metal hoods will eventually cause the glass hoods to delaminate.

Ok, here is the info:

82-83 Hood Opening Assist Rod Plastic
G6795 38.41

Info:
1982-1983 Plastic Hood Opening Assist Rod:

Replacement hood rod that acts as a hood-prop when hood is opened. 2 required.

This is from Classic Industries.

I was wrong about the price. Looks like they are $38.41 each. This is the same thing that me and a few others are using on our cowl hoods and they work perfect. I've also heard you could get a similar strut from JCWhitney but don't hold me to it.

I have some non-defroster hatch struts. They are really strong. Let me know if you are interested.

I bought hood/hatch struts from JCWHITNEY at a price I couldn't turn down and they had a ton to choose from too.

the ones I bought were the brand "StrongArm" and the hood struts were $19/each and the hatch struts were $34.99/each. Now they had other brands to include ACDELCO and Gabriel and a bunch of others too.

the URL is:
