Need help ASAP!
Hey, searched quickly but found nothing. Junkyard got a new car today, 86-90 Trans AM, pretty much mint body/interior, but no engine. Question is, it has a perfect dash/center console. Will these unbolt and fit in my camaro? (91 Z28). They're both for 305, and both have manuals. Trans AM has 140 MPH speedo. Also has molded door panels, anyway to get those to work? I really need to know about the dash like..right now. I want to go back ang get it now. They only want $30 for the whole thing!
Side note, how hard is it to take out the dash? I'm guessing I'll need a ratchet set, screw drivers, wire cutters, torx wrenches, and a hacksaw and hammer incase of any peskyt bolts or possible welds. Do I need the whole dash frame? Ok...someone please help me

Door panels should be no problem, birds and 'maros use exactly the same doors.
As for the dash, I dont see why you couldnt swap everything in its entirety. Don't know why oyu want to, but it's your car. Couldnt help ya how to take it out. And if it doesnt work out, you could sell the pieces for a total of more than $30.

Take the console anyway and sell it on here or ebay. Ive seen mint ones go for well over $100! As for putting it in your camaro, its really not worth all the trouble.

Eh, went and got it anyway. I think it looks way cooler than camaro ones. Wasn't hard to take out at all.
Anyway, my next question involves the wiring.
I just cut the wires, leaving as much of them going from the dash as I could. Now, do I just cut the wires from my engine, and just hope that they're the same color and match up? Does anyone know if this is true, or am I going to have to find wiring diagrams? Or, would my old wires plug into the harnesses, if I took the whole dash apart and tired?
Please, again respond ASAP. I don't want to screw this up, and I'm too impatient to not do it now, so I'm going out to do this. Oh, and it's actually going to be functional too. My old tach didn't work, hopefully this one will, and this speedo goes to 140! yay for me!
Ok, I'm gonna go tear my camaro dash out now

Here's the deal:
I got the old dash completely out without cutting any wires (thank ***)wasn't anywhere's near as hard as I thought. Just disconnected and unbolted a lot of things. So, I connect all of the wires back up, and go to start the car to make sure I didn't f anything up. Put the key in the ignition, nothing. Not a sound. I looked around for like an hour trying to find out what I didn't connect, until I found out that when I took the dash out, I pulled the headlight switch, and they had been on for a while, and killed the battery. So I jumped it, and it started right up, thank ***. That scared the **** out of me.
Anyway, Tomorrow I'll put the TA dash and center console in. It's not going to be anywhere's near as hard as I thought, just time consuming. I haven't got a chance to take the gauges of the TA dash yet, but from what I can see, it connects the same way my camaro one did. It might even be the same. That would be awesome, if they just plug right in, but probably not with my luck. So, does anyone know how to go about connecting the gauges if they don't plug in? I'm hoping the wires are the same color, but if they're not, I'm gonna need some wiring diagrams if anyone has 'em. My camaro is a 91 z28, and the TA I think is an '87. Also, from what I can see so far, the TA speedo looks to be electronic like mine, not cable driven. Can anyone clarify this?
Alright, that's all I have for now. Right now, I just want to know what you guys think. I really value your opinions, so I want to know if you think this was a good idea. Personally, I think the Trans AM interiors are a lot better than the camaro's, but I want to know how you guys feel. Did I ruin the car by putting the Trans Am dash in a camaro? Oh, and don't just say it's my car, I should do what I want, I want to know what everyone thinks.
Oh, and one more thing. The odometer reads 175,000 on the Trans AM dash, but my actual miles are just below 125,000. If I take the plastic cover off the gauges, can I roll the odometer back? I don't want to do anything illegal, and I know it's illegal to roll back an odometer, but I'd really like to know how many miles my car has, for pioece of mind type thing.
Thanks for reading this, I know it's kinda long.

I just thought of something... you may run into a problem with the VATS. Your 91 has it, but the 87 doesn't. I don't know much about it, but maybe someone else can tell you more.

shouldn't be a problem. All the old wiring from my car is staying, the only differences is I have to splice and switch the wires that go to the gauges
And, does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the gauges for a 91 Z28 and 87 Trans AM? These would really help! So far, I've got most of the gauges working by matching up the colors, but some colors don't match. I don't think the speedo works yet, but gas, temp, tach, seatbelt, work. Also, there are some of the same colors comming from the TA gauges. Should I just put those ones together on the one from the camaro?
Please, if anyone has wiring diagrams, you would make my life so much easier!

bump
Please, I have every gauge working now besides the speedo. There are some wires left over that don't match up, a pink one, a purple one, and a green one with a black stripe. Does anyone know which colors the wires are from an '87 trans am, and a 91 Z 28?
