Custom camaro headliner, dome light delete?
So I'm finishing up the strip down of my car so it can go into the bodyshop today, and I notice my headliner is starting to sag in the back
I'm guessing the two weeks it's been sitting in the driveway with the windows rolled up finally took its tole. Since the car is going to be coming back in pretty much "like new" condition, I want to take care of the headliner now too.
The question is, what sort of a custom headliner can I do for a camaro? I know someone on here did a big firebird, but what could I do for mine? Also, I don't use the dome light now, and I'd like to get rid of it. Can I just fiberglass the dome light opening on the backerboard for the headliner and leave the dome light off?
Thanks, Joe

After removing the old foam off the headliner with a wire brush.
I recovered the whole headliner with a sheet of 1/4" high density foam. That was enough to get rid of the dome light opening when I redid my headliner.

It's really hard to see in the picture, but I did mine with black fabric glued down solid, then a blue plasticy mesh (bought it at a fabric store) which is stiched tight around the edge of the headliner, and held by the domelight in the center. The headliner looks black (unlike in the picture) but has a really cool 3D effect with the blue mesh separate of the black. On the downside, if I spike up my hair, I get cought in the mesh

I see what you're saying, that's a pretty cool effect. I was able to rip out my headliner before the car went in, so I have a week or two to figure something out and get it made. I got rid of the dome light cause I switched to neons under the dash, and the dome light really ruined the effect. I wonder if there woudl be a way to encorporate neon tubes into the headliner, but so that they wouldn't be visible? Thanks for the replies, both of your headliners look great!
