Its El Camino and some of them did have front ends that resembled camaros and you can buy aftermarket pieces that resemble them. I believe the SS El caminos got that nose.

El Camino*

Their was no real El Camaro that GM made. The El Camino's that were made in the 80's were based on the Monte Carlo and the caprice, I think. And the 60's and 70's Camino;s were based off of Chevelle's.

I have heard of people putting Camaro front ends on El Camino's to give them a custom look.

Probably a mod equivalent to a predator gfx for thirdgenners.

What your talking about is an actual ElCamino SS the car was based on the G-body Monticarlo SS they had an slmost identical nose to the camero the only diffrence was that they whern't quit as wide as the cameros I've actually head that if your good with fiberglass you can make a nose for them out of a camero one, hotrod magazine a article on one a few years back

Just like to add that Camaro has 2 a's and no e. I realize you do have a firebard and not a Camaro. We really need a spellcheck on the message board. Oh and yes the Monte Carlo(notice the Monte has an e)SS nose is what the El Camino's nose looks like.

Sure there were two prototype Firebird El Caminos. A couple secretly slipped out from the factory and they are very rare and very collectable now.

that car you saw had a custom nose made by Lauren engineering. It can be seen here:
http://www.laureneng.com/flash/page08.html

They make some cool (and not so cool) stuff for elco's, monte carlos, cutlasses, etc

Thank you captain grammar! I also posted that at like 4am I beleave and was a bit tired lol. I also own 2 firebirds the other is a 79 t-top formula with a 1971 RA III 400 block so I'd have to agree with Diabolical firebird is spelled with two "I"s just messing with you man. Its all in fun.

Shudders yea I agree that is disturbing thank *** they never produced them! O yea back in the 70's on the second gen firebirds they experimented with a stationwagon version of the transam too. If you hit my site in the pics section I have some pics of it and a little article explaining its history. Personaly I thought it didn't look to bad, I mean considering its a station wagon its probably the most bad *** wagon I've ever seen (aside from a GTO wagon thats occasionally around here).

wow that is one of the cleanest El Camino's i've ever seen. that is definetly a great job on the conversion. they are pretty popular down here. everyone wants a camaro and they get ahold of a camino or malibu and do the conversion. personally, i think that they are cool. and by the way. the chevelle and the malibu were one in that same. they did away with the chevelle name in the mid-70's. the camino never followed the caprice chassis. the caprice was way too big.

Body kit mod's are all over the place for El Camino's. It is quite common to see El Camino's.......not looking like El Camino's. The SS's had sort of a camaro nose on them, but it was more of a Monte Carlo nose. If you see a nose that looks exactly like a camaro nose, it's aftermarket.

take a look at that last rear picture. Look through the window at the steering wheel. Doesn't it look like a wheel off a 91-92 camaro?

i believe it was choo choo customs that did the camaro nose for the elkys. i have heard of them refered to as the IROC el caminos, not too many were made. in red, that doesnt look the greatest. i have seen a pic of a white one and i must say, it did look pretty decent. but its still an el camino, and that means no thanks to me.

Choo choo customs maes a kit for elcaminos. Theres a yellow one here in spfld that has IROC-SS painted down the doors a lot like the IROC-Z badges on the camaros. Front nose looks like a camaro, with the exception that the camaro's have about a 5-6 inch "shelf" under the headlights. The El Camino with this kit doesn't have as big of a shelf, nor is it as wide.

Also, I'd like to add that "El Camino" is with an e, not an a,
Take it from me, i had a 78 that was mint with a 350 in it. Talk about a screamer!!!! Just had no traction, but what do you expect with no weight in the rear?

I think they look bad ***. I'd rather own that then a 305.
either way.. .the conversions all look nice. and i wouldn't mind owning an el camino w/ a camaro nose conversion.
