removing carpet

i just finished pulling out my old carpet. in certain spots, the padding that was under the carpet was glued to the floor. i've tried scraping the padding/glue off with various tools, but it won't come off. anyone have any time on how to remove this stuff?

I pulled as much of mine as I could, and left a real thin layer on. It doesn't make any difference IMO.

it takes alot of time, mine came off perfectly after awhile.
Use a knife and peel the black glue stuff off. The remaining stuff I just sanded off and repainted

I just ripped off as much as I could without too much effort. Then put the new carpet right over it. It won't make any difference at all if some is left on there.
