rearview mirror adhesive?

rearview mirror adhesive?
I've always used store bought adhesive in the past for re-applying mirrors but recently my '92 factory installed mirror fell off for the first time and it appears to have a rubbery clear pre-formed adhesive strip that held it on. Are those available? Dealership had no clue what I was talking about. I'd post a pic but I can't host pics.

cant you try & use the store bought stuff on there,wont that work? ive found dealers dont know what you mean about things
