Dashpad Vibrating Real Bad.....Help Before I Go Crazy!!!

This past winter my dashpad started vibrating really bad when I'm driving. It does it at pretty much any speed and any type of road. We had a really cold winter here and I thought it would just tighten back up with the warm summer weather but it hasn't.

I already tried twice to tighten all the screws on the underside and it hasn't helped. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? It's driving me absolutely crazy!!!

my buddy works at this place that sells stuff for stereos...

it's this padding that you tape in between your parts and it stops vibrations... perhaps something to think about... take off your dash, put some of the stuff underneath and in all the cracks and put it back on...

That might work.....I was thinking of getting some of that foam backed tape and putting it between the dashpad and the top of the dash.

I'd like to hear from some guys who had this problem and fixed it so if you're out there please speak up.

Ha sometimes I can still hear it, and even if I can't, I can see it shaking. I can't stand it anymore.

take the dashpad and drive around without it. might help you see where the vibration is and if its the pad itself or something underneath.

Hey whats up Paul? I have to stop over and see your car one day, I am not very far from Bound Brook. Anyway, as of right now, above 80mph, like on the highway, my dash starts vibrating like crazy. I am almost positive that it is because of my balding tires and the exact rpms at 80mph. If I accelerate or decelerate, the vibrating slows down, but right at 80, it peaks. I know it is annoying, but luckily it only happens at high speeds or at that exact rpm. The engine's sound just triggers something in the dash and it goes off. Also, this winter it was so cold one day, that I went over a bump in Philly going to the store and my dash cracked right in the middle So now I have a nice big crack on the top of the dash board. Chalk that up with the other stuff I have to get at the junk yard. Also Paul, what kind of cam and other internals are you using on your 383, because I have big plans for my car, and a 500hp 383 is what I am looking to build. How much did yours cost, and is it me, or do those hp and torque numbers seem pretty low for a 383?

It could be that the 4 screws by the defroster vents aren't tight, or are missing?

Let us know....

Well the 4 by the defroster were a little loose so I tightened them up. I started the car and it's still vibrating, but I won't know if it's better until I drive it somewhere. Maybe I'll take it to work tomorrow.

I'll let you guys know.

mine always shook too, but once the stereo went up never bothered me. id go with that foam backing tape idea. and if that fails, and all else fails, time for the nail gun :lala:
