4th gen interior COLOR...

I am hoping to be getting some 4th gen seats and console here soon and need to know the following.

I understand that 4thgen parts from 97+ (which is what I'll be looking for) came in charcoal/gray and ebony(blackish).

Can anyone tell me if there is a noticable difference between the two color shades?

I would prefer Ebony, but am not sure if I can find one.

EDIT: I just spoke with someone at TACreationsUSA and they said all 97-99 was the lighter of the two grays. 2000+ was the ebony, or darker gray.

thats right ebony was only available after 2000. I love my ebony SS seats, came out of an 02 car. Look great feel great and make my car look awesome. Here is a pic.

I think that either one would look good. I originally wanted to go the light gray leather route. But I got all new black interior pieces and opted for the ebony. What a change from red inside to all black....

I REALLY REALLY REALLY love those 96 SS Leather seats. I decided against them however due to the fact that the newest ones are still 7 or so years old. I don't want seats that I have to recover. Especially if I'm paying $$$$ for leather. That's why I decided on the 2000+ SS/Z28 leather seats in Ebony.

After hours of searching today, I did find a '01 TA 6spd EBONY console!!

I decided on Ebony because I ultimately want a completely black interior. The Camaro dash is already all black, and my seats and carpet will all be black someday as well as the panels and plastic... The Ebony will match it better and won't stand out as much as a dark gray console will.

Here's a pic of the one I'm getting for $130 shipped:

Those SS seats I bought in 2000 only had 8000 miles on them.
Not even broken in. I paid $650 shipped from Speed Automotive.

I REALLY want Ebony, but maybe being a blackish color would make them TOO hot when the sun hits em - especially with ttops.

Thats why I was thinking on 95-96 leather seats, like the ones above that Zepher posted.

They LOOK the best IMHO. Are they harder to find?

Like I said, I love that style the best. I found a set that are mint for around $700. Good/bad deal?

How do you all think it'd look with those charcoal leather seats against a black Camaro interior w/ a black '01 console? I plan on putting black carpet, plastic and D/Ps in it too. A nice contrast with the black interior and charcoal seats or what??

I wish GM had just made all black, it'd make my life right now easier!:sillylol:

Zepher - being that you've had both types of seats, which did you prefer?

What seat will/would you buy again out of any 4th gens?

The Camaro seats are far more comfortable, both cloth and leather. The T/A seats have the side bolsters which help out a bit in cornering, but they are too hard.
I didn't gather this from my 2 pairs of seats, but from many cars that I have riden in/driven, both new and used.

I'd get the Camaro ones again first.

Thanks Zepher. I've decided to get a set of '96 leather Z28 seats. $725 shipped.

Do these seat's belt holders have to be modified to be used with my seatbelts??

More than likely they will not come with the seats. Because they are one piece. The loop is attached to the belt in the 4th gens. Ya can't jst remove it like you would a 3rd gen belt. I simply got a new set of loops, and cut the, in the back, very fine slit, and pull on it to slip my 3rd gen belt through. Works like a charm

Does anyone know what other seats have that same seat belt thing... I want to check J/Y's but I know that none of the local ones have 4thgens.

Are there any other GM seats that have that "bolt pattern" for the bolts that hold the seat belt thing on?

They should come with the seats since the hoop can be removed on a 4th gen since they don't have 2 retractors. The belt attachment on the floor is just a piece of metal with a bolt in it.
To fit your car you'd need to cut the hoop to get the belt in.

I am not sure if Trans Am guides work on the Camaro seats. I sold my extra set of Trans Am guides a few months ago.
I'll see if I can borrow one and test it out. If they work, I'll give you the part numbers for the Convertable guides that have a slit in them already. They are $5 or so each from the dealer.

I just got an email from the seller a minute ago and he said that they ARE included. Whew.

I keep looking at the pics of the seats and drooling!

Yeah. I hope they look as good in the real life as they do in the pics... for $725 shipped they better.

Before anyone tells me I paid too much... These seats have new covers on the front.
