proper paint removal and prep?

So I took to grinding out all the surface rust and sanding down the car to the metal and priming it. Now that I've already started - is there a proper way to really do this? I'm using what I learned in shop class in high school.

Sand/grind
fill holes/dents/imperfections with bondo - let dry
sand down to smooth
refill if need be
prime.

Pretty much I want to go all primer for now. I hate having a half painted car and half primer.

If I'm thinking of going black paint job, should I use black primer - seems to be logical, but could still be wrong for what ever reason.

im doing the same thing your doing right now, right now mines half white, half grey.... if youre using primer out of the can it doesn't matter b/c you'll have to reprime it anyways, and if you leave it primed for a while it's best to re sand a prime right before paint, especially after weather conditions. either way, you'll have to reprime it b4 painting, but you are saving alot of time by doing this now... and i would use black if going w/ a black paint job
